The print syndication project places previously untold stories of migrant life in the commercial print media.
Ireland has a dynamic but very competitive regional print media, in which journalists have ever-less time to develop areas of expertise or research slow-burning stories. This means that the regional media often doesn’t reflect the rapidly changing demographics of its catchment area.
FOMACS aims to provide editors and publishers with strong human-interest stories dealing with issues of immigration and integration, and focusing on the challenges and opportunities facing real people.
In dedicated supplements published in either our partner organisation Metro Éireann or circulated to local outlets, the Print Syndication project aims to tell local stories of relevance and interest to readers across the country.
Committed to opening access for new journalistic voices, FOMACS launched the Mary Holland Journalism Scholarship in 2007. These ongoing MA awards are aimed at encouraging immigrant participation in Irish Journalism and overcoming some of the barriers that have hampered diversity in the field.
